Dedicated Physiotherapist with a passion for sports. My expertise are complemented by a strong interest in sports injuries, injury prevention management, recovery and rehabilitation.
As a firm believer in life-long learning, I stay up to date with the latest research, techniques and best practices in the field.
Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy cycling, running and living an active healthy lifestyle as it is my passion.
My special interest are in sports injuries, sports rehabilitation and high performance sport science in athletes.
Hi, I’m Emmarentia Wagner, a passionate and dedicated physiotherapist with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy and a strong focus on evidence-based, client-centered care. I’m a proud member of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP), and I hold certifications in Dry Needling (Level 1), Taping Techniques (both rigid and kinesiotape), Ponseti Clubfoot management, and I'm a BASI Certified Pilates Instructor.
My clinical interests span from return-to-sport and prehabilitation to chronic pain, pediatric and stroke rehabilitation. I love using Pilates-based rehab as a tool for building strength and resilience, and I combine this with techniques like dry needling, biomechanics assessments, strapping, strength training, and hands-on manual therapy.
I completed my community service at Humansdorp Hospital, working in a multidisciplinary team alongside occupational therapists, dietitians, and speech therapists. Since then, I’ve gained valuable experience in neurorehabilitation, chronic pain, pediatric neurodevelopmental therapy, return-to-work programs, and treating acute neuromuscular injuries.
I’m constantly learning and staying up to date with the latest in physiotherapy through workshops and webinars on topics such as cerebral palsy, carpal tunnel syndrome, ethical practices in sports medicine, and more. Some highlights include the WITS Clubfoot Workshop and Colin Hill’s “Discover the Magic of Tape.”
Outside the clinic, I love being involved in the community—whether it’s volunteering at events like the Port Elizabeth Ironman or leading stroke support group classes. I’ve also participated in educational talks focused on women’s health and the importance of movement in cancer recovery.
At the heart of my work is a genuine passion for helping people get back to doing what they love—whether it’s sport, work, or simply living pain-free. Looking ahead, I’m committed to deepening my skills, especially in manual therapy, shoulder rehab, chronic pain, sports injuries, and women’s health.
Let’s work together to help you move better, feel stronger, and live fully.
I grew up in Johannesburg and pursued my studies in Bloemfontein. I was fortunate to complete my community service year at the largest government hospital in the Free State, where I gained invaluable experience and honed my skills as a physiotherapist. Following this, I moved to Port Elizabeth, where I’ve been living for the past three years and have loved every moment of it. From the very first day, I’ve felt at home in this vibrant community
I am deeply passionate about my work as a physiotherapist and take pride in giving my absolute best to every patient and case I handle. I thrive on meeting new people and helping them on their journies to recovery. My interests lie in treating sports-related injuries as well as neck and back pain, areas where I strive to make a significant impact on my patients’ lives.
In my free time, I enjoy running, spending quality time with friends and family, and embracing outdoor activities. I’m also eager to learn new skills and explore challenges that help me grow both personally and professionally.
I am thrilled at the opportunity to join the talented team at Gerald's practice and look forward to the exciting possibilities the new year holds.
